From the Director

"I knew I wanted a New Zealand-based soundtrack,” says the writer/director, “and I think the Phoenix Foundation is one of the most exciting New Zealand bands. Their mix and their sound is really beautiful – and it’s so organically cinematic that I knew just from listening to the songs that it was going to work. I know they’re going to get more and more popular, so it was exciting to be able to be the first to use them in a movie.” ~ Taika Waititi, Director of EvS

Personal Thoughts

I agree with Taika in that the music has a sort of organic quality to it. In two words, the music is mellow and melancholic.

My personal favorite songs by The Phoenix Foundation are Apples & Tangerines, Going Fishing, Brain and Bright Grey (the last song's not on the soundtrack, but worth a listen).

You can go to myspace to hear a sample of Bright Grey. Another great Eagle vs. Shark track is Blue Summer. Visit the EvS Photo Gallery to listen to the track.

The Eagle vs. Shark soundtrack is now available through itunes and SmokeCDs.com.
